Two Lemont Seniors Sign National Letters Of Intent
Lemont High School seniors Amy Schwem and Morgan Wrublik have signed National Letters of Intent to participate in their respective sports.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School seniors Amy Schwem and Morgan Wrublik have signed National Letters of Intent to participate in women’s volleyball and women’s track and field, respectively, beginning in 2020. The school shared some information about the two student athletes and their athletic careers at LHS:
Amy Schwem
- 5’10” setter who started four seasons for head coach Chris Zogata
- Three-time all-conference honoree
- Two-time team captain and MVP
- Integral part of four South Suburban Conference-Blue Division championship squads
- Totaled 2,486 assists over her four seasons, averaging 7.92 assists per game
- Led the team in service points and ranked among the team’s top two in service aces four straight seasons
- Totaled 224 kills (0.71 per game), 774 service points (2.46 per game), 225 aces (0.72 per game), 613 digs (1.95 per game) and 143 blocks (0.46 per game) over 314 career games
- Named the SSC Blue Player of the Year as a senior in 2019
- Led the team with 193 service points, was second on the squad with 54 aces and 42 blocks, and was third with 146 digs
- Lemont finished 30-8, which included a perfect 13-0 record in SSC play, and won its first IHSA Regional title since 2012
• Earned All-SSC honors as a junior in 2018 after averaging team highs of 7.91 assists, 1.99 digs and 1.00 aces per game - Twice named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Phenom List
- Four-year member of USA Volleyball’s High Performance National Team, serving two years as a captain
- Plays club volleyball for Michio Chicago Volleyball Academy, serving five years as a team captain for its “National” teams
- Helped Michio Chicago to a third-place finish in the 17 Open Division at the 2019 USA Volleyball Nationals
- High Honor Roll and National Honor Society student
- Will play for head coach Tim Doyle at College of William & Mary, an NCAA Division I institution that is located in Williamsburg, Virginia.

- Three-time letterwinner in girls’ track and field for head coach Tim Plotke
- Holds school records in three field events
- Has helped the team to two South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles and one runner-up finish
- Reached the IHSA Class 3A State Finals in the shot put as a junior in 2019, finishing 14th (40’02.00”)
- Earned all-sectional accolades in three events after placing as the runner-up in the shot put (40’05.00”), third in the long jump (16’09.75”), and fourth in the discus throw with a school record toss of 115’05”
- Was the SSC Blue champion in both the shot put and long jump and placed second in the discus throw
- Set a school record in the shot put with a throw of 41’05.50” at the Lemont Outdoor Invitational
- Served as a team captain while helping Lemont to a runner-up finish in the SSC Blue Division
- Set a school record in the long jump with an effort of 17’04.00” as a freshman in 2017
- Earned top 10 finishes in both the long jump and discus throw at the 2019 USA Track & Field Illinois Junior Olympics
- Earned two varsity letters in cheerleading and was part of the 2018 IHSA Medium Division State Champion squad
- In the midst of her first season on the varsity girls’ basketball team
- Earned a varsity letter in girls’ cross country as a senior
- High Honor Roll and National Honor Society student
- Will compete for Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jeff Bovee at Illinois State University, an NCAA Division I institution that is located in Normal, and is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference.
