Village Gives Update On Route 83, Main Street Construction
IDOT has given a completion date of November, most likely around Thanksgiving.
LEMONT, IL — At the village board meeting on Sept. 23, Mayor John Egofske gave an update for a construction project that has caused area residents a lot of frustration. Construction at Route 83 and Main Street has been underway for several months, and was originally supposed to be completed in 2018.
The roadwork is an Illinois Department of Transportation project.
"We are as frustrated as all our residents are," Egofske said, adding that resident complaints and concerns have been passed on to local representatives and senators.

Public Works Director Ralph Pakula said IDOT has informed him the issue for the delay is "rock."
"They're running into a lot of rock when they're digging holes for the street lights, traffic signals and guard rails," he said.

The street lights are almost finished for the project, Pakula said. Traffic signals will go in next, followed by the guard rails and then sealing the roads.
