Throughout 2021, the community is invited by The Forge: Lemont Quarries to participate in the ongoing restoration and beautification of the Heritage Quarries Recreation Area (HQRA) through park conservation and clean-up projects, as well as trail restoration and development.

The next Volunteer Clean-Up Day will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 9-11 am at The Forge: Lemont Quarries, 1001 Main Street in Lemont. Safety gear is required in order to volunteer, and participants should provide their own safety goggles, reinforced work gloves, and weather-appropriate clothing. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteers’ interests and experience will factor into the specific volunteer area of placement during the clean-up day event.

The Forge: Lemont Quarries already has removed more than 10 acres of invasive species from the property, the primary culprits being buckthorn and honeysuckle, but there’s a lot of work still to be done. To learn more or RSVP, visit https://www.forgeparks.com/fri...
