The restaurant will reopen Friday after a professional deep cleaning.

LEMONT, IL — Wooden Paddle will be closed Thursday after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus, the restaurant shared on its Facebook page. The restaurant will reopen Friday after a professional deep cleaning.

"And no, we’re not going to be vague and say that we’re closing simply because we’re 'retraining our staff on sanitation procedures' or 'disinfecting our restaurant top to bottom, just because!'" the business said on its Facebook. "Yesterday, one of our employees tested positive for the virus we’d all like to forget, COVID-19. And so, we’re closing down to handle it."

The restaurant said the employee began to feel sick and stayed home, and hasn't worked in the restaurant since. The employee only had symptoms for one day and is feeling better now, but will remain in quarantine, the restaurant said.

"We’ve been open and operating since this pandemic began in early March, and this is the very first case we’ve experienced as a company. Our mask-wearing, glove-wearing, clean-as-you go selves are pretty proud of how much we’ve stopped the spread to date," the restaurant said on its Facebook page.
