Village Halts Liquor Sales At Rosati's After Shooting Incident

Montgomery police reported an unidentified person pulled out a gun at local business on night of Jan. 6 and started shooting.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Montgomery Village President Matt Brolley released a statement Monday night following an incident involving a gun took place at Rosati's Pizza nearly 24 hours earlier. According to Brolley, police said preliminary information indicates this was a targeted crime and not random. There aren't any immediate threats to the community, Brolley said, but he did request liquor sales at the business be put on pause.

"Regarding the unfortunate situation that resulted in the discharge of a firearm at Rosati’s last evening, we have long championed restaurants that offer a safe, family-friendly dining atmosphere and this type of activity will not be tolerated in our community," Brolley said. "This morning, the owner agreed to my request for an immediate 10-day suspension of their liquor license. This will give all parties adequate time to review the situation and determine if, and under what circumstances, future liquor sales would be appropriate at this location."

Patch reported that following the incident, the Montgomery Police Department said officers were called to the business in the 2000 block of Orchard Road just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday after a fight involving weapons and a possible shooting victim were reported. When they arrived, police learned a fight had broken out inside the business and an unidentified person pulled out a gun and began shooting, hitting two individuals.
