BNSF Schedule Changes Announced For Repair Project: Metra

MONTGOMERY, IL — Metra announced scheduled changes starting Friday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 28 for those in Aurora planning to take the BNSF into the city this weekend. Due to a repair project, Metra will be canceling some trains and changing a number of schedules to accommodate work being done between Highlands and Eola. Metra said beginning Friday evening, BNSF will have a large tie gang working between those two areas to replace 18,000 ties on the center track, and work will continue through late Sunday evening.

According to Metra, the following BNSF train services will be annulled, changed/rescheduled or routes expected to be delayed during the weekend project window:

Friday, Oct. 26 - Annulled Trains:

• 1294 – Departs Downers Grove at 8:19 p.m.; arrives Chicago Union Station (CUS) at 9:07 p.m.
• 1298 – Departs Aurora at 10:15 p.m.; arrives CUS at 11:29 p.m.
• 1295 – Departs CUS at 9:40 p.m.; arrives Aurora at 10:57 p.m.
• 1299 – Departs CUS at 11:41 p.m.; arrives Aurora at 12:57 a.m.

Friday, Oct. 26 – Adjusted Departures:

• 1296 – Departs at 8:50 p.m. (29 minutes later than regularly scheduled); arrives at CUS at 10:24 p.m. 15 minutes added to run time to accommodate construction.
• 1324 – Departs at 11:45 p.m. (32 minutes later than regularly scheduled); arrives at CUS at 1:16 a.m.. 15 minutes added to run time to accommodate construction.
• 1293 – Departs at 9 p.m. (20 minutes later than regularly scheduled); arrives at Aurora at 10:43 p.m. (15 minutes added to run time to accommodate construction).
• 1297 – Departs CUS as regularly scheduled. 15 minutes added to run time to accommodate construction zones.
• 1325 – Departs CUS at 1:15 a.m. (30 minutes later than regularly scheduled); arrives at Aurora at 2:47 a.m.. 15 minutes added to run time to accommodate construction.

Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 and 28 – Schedule Adjustments – All trains subject to 10 minutes construction delay:

• 1323 – Depart at 11:25 p.m. (45 minutes later than regularly scheduled); arrives at Aurora at 12:55 a.m.
• 1329 – Departs at 1 a.m. (20 minutes later than regularly scheduled); arrives at Aurora at 2:26 a.m.
