Crashes Reported In Wake Of Winter Road Conditions: Montgomery PD
The Montgomery Police Department responded to several crashes on Jan. 24 to Jan. 28, 2019.

Monday, Jan 28
The Montgomery Police Department responded to a one-vehicle non-injury crash on at 1:37 a.m. Monday at Hill and Route 34. According to police, a black Toyota Scion driven by Zachary Jaksich, 27, of the 1000 block of North Commonwealth Avenue, Aurora, was northbound on Route 30 when he slid while turning eastbound onto Route 34, colliding with a street sign in the median of the roadway. Police said the vehicle was towed from the scene and there were no injuries, and no citations were issued.

Saturday, Jan. 26
Montgomery police responded to and took a report of a non-injury crash at 11:51 p.m. Saturday at Harmony and Wellman. Police said it was reported that a maroon GMC Yukon driven by 21-year-old Finner L. Bryant, of the 1500 block of Molitor Road, Aurora, struck a fire hydrant and fled on foot from the vehicle. According to police, Bryant had a passenger in the SUV, identified as Itzel Luna-Galla, of the 600 block of Lancaster, Aurora. Aurora police took Bryant into custody, Montgomery police said.

Friday, Jan. 25
Montgomery police responded to a non-injury crash at Orchard and Aucutt at 1:35 pm. Friday. According to police, 18-year-old Braxton J. Mayes, of the 3000 block of Prairie Street, Aurora, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu with passenger Antwan J. McGhee, of the 1000 block of Oliver Avenue, Aurora. Police said Mayes indicated he was unable to slow down while traveling northbound on Orchard due to road conditions, causing him to swerve and sideswipe a stopped red Toyota Prius, driven by 25-year-old Eyad Nabil Ajaj, of the 2000 block of Simpson Court, Montgomery, which was stopped at the light. Eyad's passenger was Doed Nabil Ajaj, of the 0-200 block of N. 15th street, St. Charles, police said, adding there were no injuries, no tows, and no citations issued in this accident.
Montgomery police responded to a non-injury crash involving one vehicle at 10 p.m. Friday on the Route 30 bridge. Police said it was discovered that a silver Ford Focus being driven by Jose Delgado Osornio, of Montgomery, was traveling eastbound on the bridge when reportedly slid and hit the center median, crossed to the south side of the roadway, and struck the rail of the bridge. Police said no citations were issued, but the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Montgomery police also responded to a non-injury crash involving one vehicle at 11:20 pm Friday on Mayfield Drive. The driver and sole occupant, identified as 44-year-old Juan Lopez, of the 2300 block of Amsterdam Circle, Montgomery, told police he slid on ice and lost control of his black Honda Accord while negotiating a curve, and struck a light pole, police said. No citations were issued and no tows were needed, police said.
Thursday, Jan. 24
Montgomery Police responded to a crash at Route 30 and Griffin in front of the police station on at 7:33 p.m. Thursday. Police said that's where it was discovered that a silver Chevrolet Malibu driven by 18-year-old Briona Rizzi of the 200 block of Bradford Court, Oswego was traveling westbound on Route 30 and turned left onto Griffin in front of a blue Toyota Yaris driven by 34 -year-old Grace Okolo, of the 1000-3000 block of Illinois Avenue, Aurora. Police said Rizzi had a juvenile passenger in her car, from Montgomery. Okolo was transported to Rush Copley for reported minor injuries. Police said both cars were towed, and no citations were been issued.
