Deputy For A Day: Student Wins Squad Ride, Breakfast With Cops

Second-grader David got a ride to school from the sheriff's office.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird and his deputies treated a Boulder Hill Elementary School second-grader to a squad car ride to school and breakfast with a deputy after winning a school raffle in March. Police said David, a Boulder Hill student, won a raffle at the school fun fair that also made him an honorary Kendall County deputy for a day. The big day was last Thursday.

"David enjoyed using the lights and siren on the ride to school… my apologies to anyone in Boulder Hill that we woke up this morning; however David used the siren and air horn sparingly because he said he did not want to disturb the neighborhood too much," police said on Facebook.
