District 308 Superintendent Issues Statement On Sales Tax Vote
63.24 percent of those in the 87 reported precincts voted against the 1 percent sales tax.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — Hours after Kendall County voters overwhelmingly said no to a 1 percent sales tax on certain purchases to give District 308 a $5.6 million annual boost, District 308 Superintendent Dr. John Sparlin issued a statement on the outcome. On Wednesday, the following statement was sent to Patch:
"Our goal was to provide factual information to our community regarding the county-wide referendum. For Oswego Community Unit School District 308, that meant any income received by sales tax would have been allocated towards retiring debt and lowering property taxes. The referendum not passing has no bearing on the operating budget for the district. The SD 308 Board of Education brought the measure forward to give Kendall County voters the option of adopting the sales tax or not. - Dr. John Sparlin, Superintendent of Schools"
