Flood Warning For Fox River In Montgomery, Algonquin

Additional rain and storms could increase the flood risk Friday and Saturday.

MONTGOMERY, IL — A flood warning was in place Friday for the Fox River in Montgomery and Algonquin, according to the National Weather Service. As of early Friday, the Algonquin Tailwater was at 9.9 feet, above the flood stage of 9.5 feet, and at Montgomery, the river had reached the 13-foot flood stage.

The Fox River was expected to fall below flood stage by Monday morning in Algonquin and by Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, according to the NWS.

"If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an alternate route," NWS advised.

A hazardous weather outlook was also in effect with limited thunderstorm risk for Friday during the day and evening, with the NWS predicting "periods of rain along with the a chance of thunderstorms," with the possibility for localized flooding. There was also a limited thunderstorm risk and high swim risk on Saturday and Sunday.
