Foster Homes Needed for THIS Friday July 13th!

Will you please help us save these dogs and puppies?

It’s Summertime….and that means our shelter partners overflowing with unwanted dogs and puppies!

Safe Haven Dog Rescue does not have a physical location we rely upon the generosity of families that open their homes to provide a temporary Safe Haven. We can only save as many pups as we have foster homes. Every week we have to turn away hundreds of requests to accept dogs into our adoption program.

The dogs and puppies pictured have the chance to come to Illinois on Friday July 13th, but we need committed foster homes to make that happen. We are counting on the community to help us help them!

Blackbeard is a sweet male, thought to be about a year old. The shelter guesses he is a Lab possibly mixed with Airedale or wire haired terrier. You can't see it very well in this picture, but he has a fuzzy beard! He was found as a stray and never reclaimed.

Lucky Jack is a beautiful white and copper male boxer mix who is appoximately 3 years old. He keeps his kennel clean and only goes potty when taken on his walks. His kennel is on the busiest corner in the shelter and he is non-reactive to all the dogs that pass him and bark. His owner passed away and he ended up in the shelter with his brother Copper Jack who is sadly Heartworm Positive. Both of them are missing living in a home and having regular human interaction.

Sarge - Pit/Lab mix; male; estimated age 18 months; 50 lbs. Sarge is said to be a real love-bug. He is a true people dog....he spent a few days with one of the Tennessee volunteers and house trained well, leash walked, and went on outings. Like most young dogs, he does like to chew. He is very smart and learns fast. He is heartworm positive, and would need treatment that would be provided by Safe Haven Dog Rescue. This guy is a prize...and is overlooked because heartworm is costly to treat. We would like to give him a chance at life.

Fostering is a challenging but extremely rewarding experience…

  • Have you been thinking about adding a canine companion to your family but not certain?
  • Or have you ever wondered if your dog would like a playmate?
  • Would you like to have the first choice to adopt some amazing pups?

NOW is your chance! Our fosters have the first choice to adopt!

Safe Haven Dog Rescue pays for all vetting (done locally in Geneva, South Elgin, Wheaton, Naperville and Elmhurst) and provides you with a crate, collar, leash, food, treats, toys, and more while you foster. We also have a wonderful foster support network for any questions that you have along the way.

For more information about fostering or for a foster home application, please email safehavendogsil@yahoo.com ASAP.

We need to let the shelter know by Wednesday evening in order to get the dogs and puppies vetted for transport...we don't want to leave any behind!

If you are not in the position to foster, please SHARE this information to help us find foster homes, thank you!
