Fundraisers Launched to Help Send Local Cheer Squad to Disney World

An Oswego cheerleading squad earned a spot at a national cheerleading competition in Orlando, Florida, and the team is seeking donations to help them get there.

The Oswego Bears Junior Pee Wee squad competed at the Pop Warner regional competition in DeKalb last weekend and qualified for the national competition at ESPN’S Wide World of Sports.

Cheer coordinator Andrea Dial said the team plans to depart for the Walt Disney World Resort on Dec. 6. The team will compete against squads from across the country on Dec. 8.

A donation website has been set up to help the girls, coaches and their families make the trip to Florida.

A fundraiser is also set for 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Tap House Oswego, 123 Washington St.

The event includes a menu of pulled pork sliders, chicken tenders, cheese quesadillas, pasta and marinara, pinwheels, fries, tater tots, and house salad. The meal includes complimentary soda, tea and coffee, and there will also be a cash bar with draft beer and wine.

A silent auction, 50/50 raffle and turkey dinner raffle will also be part of the event.

Pre-paid reservations are $15 per adult (age 13 and older), $10 for kids ages 6 to 12 (kids 5 and under eat for free) and $40 per family (maximum two adults and two kids). Day-of price is $17 for adults, $12 for kids and $45 per family.
