Kendall Court Official Visits Montgomery Rotary

Michele Simms, Deputy Chief Sanders, and Kevin Glock with guest speaker Holly Mann. Domestic violence assistance front and center for Club.

The Rotary Club of Montgomery invited Holly Mann to be a guest speaker at their most recent morning meeting. Employed by the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s office, she works as a Victim and Witness Coordinator. Mann described the vast amount of responsibilities, people, and details that are all a part of her day. She first described how she works closely with all of the law enforcement agencies located in Kendall County. Officer availability for court dates is vital to keeping the court system moving and decreasing the need for continuances. Mann tracks officer days off for every officer in the county to make sure they are able to attend court when needed. In addition, she provides training to new officers for court proceedings.

Mann went on to describe how she works with the victims in court cases, predominantly victims of domestic abuse. She helps victims prepare to be in court with the offender, assists with the victim impact statement, and even aids victims with applying for financial support among other things. In addition, she drafts all the orders of protection issued at the misdemeanor level.

The club members were thoroughly impressed by hearing about the numerous tasks involved with her position. Deputy Chief Armando Sanders, who has worked with Mann on many occasions, commented that, “It was good for her to share the services of her office and the hard work put in by staff members at the courthouse. Holly is a great ambassador for Kendall County and we appreciate all she does.”
