Man Arrested, Held On $1 Million Bond After Double Shooting: MPD

Police say 21-year-old Josua C. Matias was charged with seven felonies related to a double shooting on Orchard Road earlier in January.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Police in Montgomery, working with a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, say they arrested a 21-year-old Aurora man Wednesday who they believe shot two people on Orchard Road earlier in January.

Police say Josua C. Matias was arrested in St. Charles, Illinois, and charged with one count of armed habitual criminal activity, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a street gang member and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. All the charges are felonies and his bond was set at $1 million.

Police say Matias shot two people in the 2000 block of Orchard Road on Jan. 6. Those people were taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Matias was booked at the Montgomery Police Department and is being held at the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, officials said.
