Montgomery E-Waste Program Switches It Up
Recycling program has changed times, dates and location.

MONTGOMERY, IL — The village's e-waste and recycling program is changing times and its location starting this October. It will only be open to Montgomery residents, which means a photo ID is required at the time of drop-off. Quarterly recycling events will be offered on the third Saturday of the the following months:
- October, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- January, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- April, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- July, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Items can be taken to Montgomery’s Public Works Facility at 891 Knell Rd. Oct. 21.
E-waste includes anything electrical that plugs in (TV sets, computer monitors, etc.) rechargeable batteries, cell phones and metal. Household hazardous waste will also be accepted. Examples include: oil-based paint, paint thinner, gas, oil and other flammables, pesticides, caustic cleaners, pool chemicals, weed killer, CFL bulbs and propane tanks 20 pounds or less. Items not accepted: latex paint, appliances, regular light bulbs, regular alkaline household batteries, or tires.
More information can be found on the Village’s website at www.ci.montgomery.il.us. Kane County has a separate recycling program that is open to Montgomery residents in Kane or Kendall counties for items that need to be disposed of between the quarterly dates listed above.
