Montgomery Leaders Issue Breast Cancer Awareness Proclamation
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Montgomery leaders urge women to educate themselves about the potentially deadly disease.
MONTGOMERY, IL –Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In fact, one in eight women will develop the disease during the course of their lifetime.
With the month of October dedicated to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Montgomery leaders are doing their part to educate its residents on the importance of paying attention to their body's warning signs and getting regular checkups.
To help spread awareness, Montgomery community leaders issued a proclamation at their Oct. 28 meeting.

Village officials stressed that taking advantage of early detection methods such as mammography and clinical breast exams could help the breast cancer death rate drop by approximately 30 percent.
“I urge all women and their families to get the facts about breast cancer, support those courageously fighting breast cancer, and honor the lives lost to this
devastating disease," stated Brolley.
