Montgomery Recycling Event Rescheduled For Feb. 23

Accepted items include electronics, household hazardous waste, prescription drugs and more.

MONTGOMERY, IL — Montgomery's quarterly recycling event has been rescheduled for Feb. 23 after being canceled last week due to snow. It will take place at the Public Works facility on Knell Road from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents who participate in the Village's trash contract with DC Recycling Systems, formerly DC Trash, can bring electronics, including TVs, computer monitors, fans, or anything else with a plug, rechargeable or lead-acid batteries and metal. Prescription drugs, household hazardous waste, including pesticides, flammables, caustic cleaners, pool chemicals, weed killer, CFL bulbs and propane tanks under 20 pounds will also be accepted.

Officials say the quarterly evens are for residential customers only and do not include businesses. Residents outside of Montgomery or those living in apartment buildings who are not part of the DC Trash contract are also not included. Photo IDs will be required to show residency.
