Montgomery Village Staff And Fire Officials Disagree Over Funding
The Fire Chief argued that his agency has not received the proper funding from a TIF district.

On Monday, the Montgomery Village Board agreed to continue negotiations with fire officials over TIF fund distribution, according to Kendall County Now.
The Tax Increment Financing district along the Aucutt Road and Orchard Road corridor was created in 2014. The funds going to taxing districts are set to remain constant for 23 years, but additional taxes based on property appreciation go to a separate fund for public improvements in that area.
Montgomery and Countryside Fire Protection District Chief Tom Meyers argued that his agency had not received the appropriate funds from the TIF district despite working with the village staff on the issue for the past year. Meyers also distributed a proposal to correct the funding issue

Steven Andersson, an attorney for the village, strongly voiced his opposition to how Meyers was handling the issue. Andersson said he was under the impression that the village was still in initial negotiations with the fire department.
"The goal of the TIF is not to harm any taxing district, but to promote economic development that will ultimately help all the district," Village President Matt Brolley said. Brolley also expressed that he wanted the board to adjust the TIF resolution to clarify the funding process.
