1 Dead In Oswego Township Shooting: Sheriff

The incident happened at the 0 - 100 block of Chatham Place. Law enforcement officials are looking for more information.

MONTGOMERY, IL — A victim in Wednesday night's shooting has died, according to an update with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office. Ricardo Chairez, 27, of Alsip was fatally shot Wednesday night at the 0-100 block of Chatham Place in Oswego Township. Kendall County Sheriff's Office and Oswego Police were called at approximately 7:08 p.m. to a report of shots fired, according to a Facebook update from Kendall County Sheriff's Office that was sent out at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Sheriffs said the initial investigation indicates it was a targeted incident. Chairez was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing with evidence being evaluated and witness interviews. There is no one in custody yet, said Deputy Nancy Velez with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office Thursday morning.

The Kane County Coroner's Office said they will be performing an autopsy Friday.
