Retired U.S. Army Major General Robert Heine recounted his roles in the Iraq war at the Aurora Council Navy League meeting at Grandma's Table Restaurant in Montgomery Oct. 15.
Heine applauded local poet-veteran Richard Williams who penned "Those behind the Scenes" in honor of Heine's visit.
Heine served as commanding general of the theater-level engineer command and as director of operations, Iraq Reconstruction Management Office at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.
