$10K Reward Offered for Information on Fatal Shooting of Naperville Community Activist

NAPERVILLE, IL — A reward of $10,000 is being offered for information on the person who shot and killed a Naperville community activist.
Ronald L. Allen, 73, was returning from playing cards with friends when he was shot while driving in the 1300 block of North Laramie, according to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times.
Allen was one of the first black owners of an insurance agency backed by a national company, according to the report, and also acted to help repair relationships between police and communities.

According to a report from ABC 7, fellow community activist Andrew Holmes is offering the reward.
After Allen was shot, he reportedly crashed into two parked cards and was pronounced dead at 2:43 a.m.

"When you think of his legacy, it should be that of togetherness and reminding each other that we're more alike than we are different," his daughter, Vera Bass, told the Daily Herald. "He tried to bring people together."
Allen served as a precinct committeeman in Naperville Township and ran a financial radio show on WVON-AM, according to the Chicago Tribune, He was an avid player of Bid Whist, and even wrote a book on the subject, “The Evolution of Bid Whist.”
