$40K Scholarship Awarded To Naperville North Senior
Naperville North Senior Vivek Ily was told about the scholarship during a special segment of "Good Morning America."

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville North High School senior recently found out he was the recipient of a $40,000 scholarship during a special segment of "Good Morning America" on ABC. Vivek Ily was one of 25 students from across the nation to earn such a scholarship from the College Board Opportunity Scholarships program.
A member of the National Honors Society, Ily has been part of the Math Team, Science Bowl, Scholastic Bowl and Varsity Science Olympiad at Naperville North, according to a news release from Naperville Community Unit School District 203. He has his sights set on attending University at Illinois Chicago this coming fall.
“This scholarship is for every student, no matter their background or what school they attend. It’s about giving all students a chance to raise their hands and be seen,” College Board CEO David Coleman said in the news release.

Coleman added, “These 25 students are as diverse and strong as the country we call home; they come from small towns, cities, and everywhere in between. What unites them is that they have overcome adversity and taken a series of small steps to earn themselves a big future.”
District 203 Superintendent Dan Bridges said in the news release, "Vivek exemplifies our mission of self-directed learners, collaborative workers, complex thinkers, quality producers, and community contributors. We are so proud of his achievements and this scholarship will help make his college dreams a reality.”
