Accused Amtrak Shooter To Be Transported To Secure Facility
Edward Klein could be taken to the senior facility as soon as this week, the Daily Herald reports.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A judge who has been handling the case of an 80-year-old Wisconsin man who was charged with attempted murder said he doubts weather Edward Klein will ever be restored to fitness, and released him to a special facility in Wisconsin, according to the Daily Herald.
Klein was charged with attempted murder stemming from an incident when an Amtrak conductor was shot in the stomach at a Naperville stop in 2017. Klein was found unfit to stand trial after a psychological evaluation, and could be taken to the facility— which specializes in care for patients with dementia— as soon as this week, the Daily Herald reported.
Judge Jeffrey MacKay ordered the facility to give written updates every 120 days. The Herald reported other officials agreed this is the best route for Klein. For details on the Judge's order and the facility, read the full article from the Daily Herald.

Michael Case of Homewood is the victim, who spent six weeks recovering from the gunshot wound in the hospital. In a hearing, Case testified, saying that Klein was disoriented on the train, and demanded to get off in Naperville. Case said he was helping other customers with their baggage when Klein shot him through an open window with a revolver.
