9 People, 1 Dog Safely Escape House Fire In Naperville
The fire broke out Monday night at a home in the 500 block of west Jefferson Avenue.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Nine residents and their pet dog safely escaped a fire that broke out in a home in the 500 block of west Jefferson Avenue Monday evening.
Firefighters were called to the three-story home just before 9 p.m. When fire crews got to the scene and entered the home, they encountered heavy smoke and fire on the top floor.
Two adults, seven children and one dog had already evacuated the home prior to the fire department's arrival. No injuries were reported.

It took roughly 40 minutes for firefighters to contain the blaze, according to Naperville fire officials. The home was deemed to be uninhabitable and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
