Carjacking at Naperville Preschool: Police Investigating

There were no students in at the childcare center at the time of the incident

On Monday just after at 8:30 p.m., police responded to the parking lot of the Ann Reid Early Childhood Center at 1011 S. Naper Blvd. for a reported carjacking, according to a department press release.

Officers encountered a female employee of the center. The 61-year-old Naperville resident reported that a man with a handgun approached her in the parking lot and stole her purse and her gray 2011 BMW X5. The man drove north on Naper Boulevard before officers arrived.

Police report that the suspect is a black male teenager with medium complexion. He is 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds, is clean shaven, and he was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. A second subject brought the teen to the scene in a white vehicle, but also left before police arrived.

Police believe the suspects may have followed the victim to the parking lot before the incident occurred. No one was hurt, and no students were in the building at the time of the incident.

In late January, six cars were stolen from Naperville car dealerships within 24 hours, but there is no indication this most recent incident is related.
