District 204 Shifts To Fully Remote Learning Starting Nov. 23

NAPERVILLE, IL — As coronavirus cases surge throughout the country, Indian Prairie School District 204 has opted to place students in fully remote learning starting Nov. 23. The move comes after 275 staff members had to be quarantined in the past two weeks, according to a letter from Superintendent Adrian B. Talley.

Talley wrote that the decision also comes after an increasing number of parents have opted not to send their children for in-person learning due to concerns over coronavirus.

Talley wrote, "While we are disappointed to announce an extended pause to our in-person learning plans, public health officials are providing no indication that the community transmission level will be reduced from substantial to moderate. We have stated we need moderate transmission for two consecutive weeks in order to transition to our hybrid plan."

Currently, the transmission risk in DuPage County is rated as substantial.

Students will be in fully remote learning through Jan. 15. The school district plans to reassess health department data in January.
