DuPage Children’s Museum Reopening for General Admission!

The region's beloved destination for play and learning will reopen to the public on Sat., June 5 with timed admission and reduced capacity

DuPage Children’s Museum (DCM) is excited to welcome back members and guests, allowing children and their grown-ups to reconnect with the exhibits they know and love. It’s been more than a year since DCM has been able to welcome the general public into the building. On Saturday, June 5 DCM reopens for general admission. Guests can expect the same high-quality early learning experiences (and fun) but with new practices in place such as timed admission and reduced capacity to help keep everyone safe. Tickets need to be purchased in advance.

"For over a year, our children have experienced uncertainty and loss. They have been isolated from their friends, classmates, teachers and even family,” CEO Andrea Wiles said. "They have missed the familiarity of routine and meaningful places. We know that returning to DuPage Children’s Museum will bring joy and a sense of normalcy for children and families. It’s time we come together again to help our children understand the world around them through play. We cannot wait to see them!!”

In preparation for this next phase of re-opening, DCM has mindfully modified operations and exhibits to adhere to CDC and state guidelines and requirements related to COVID-19. The Museum has enhanced already stringent cleaning practices and will operate at a limited capacity. Hand sanitizing stations are strategically placed for "frequent use." High-touch surfaces and exhibit pieces will be cleaned frequently. Museum staff will also be on hand to encourage social distancing and repeated hand washing. Masks will be required for everyone ages 2 and older. As the Museum’s primary audience is young children who are not yet eligible for vaccination against COVID-19, DCM will continue to require masks be worn.

Along with being able to reopen to the general public, DCM is excited to reactivate memberships that have been “frozen” since March 2020. The Museum made the decision to pause memberships for the duration of closure due to Covid. “Our members are very important to us and we wanted to make sure that they receive their full 12 months of member benefits,” explained Hiroki Ogawa, DCM’s Membership & Sales Operations Manager. “We are very grateful for our members’ patience and continued support and are so excited to welcome everyone back.” To show appreciation, the Museum will be open on Thursday, June 3 and Friday, June 4 for members only (pre-registration is required). In addition, there are reserved entry times for members every day. One major change DCM members will experience is the need to reserve their play time in advance.

To visit DuPage Children’s Museum, all guests including members must acquire tickets in advance. Reservations can be made up to seven days in advance. The Museum will be open Wednesday – Sunday and some holidays beginning Saturday, June 5. Museum admission is $15 per person for adults and children 12 months and older; $14 per person for seniors ages 55+; children under one year and members are free.
