Fiene's Bakery To Bring 'Scratch-Made' Baked Goods To Naperville
"We are going to have everything from donuts to wedding cakes and everything in between," owner and baker Meghan Fiene told Patch.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Just over a decade ago, Meghan Fiene decided to take a seemingly unlikely leap of faith and leave her career in exercise physiology to pursue her passion for baking. Fiene is bringing that passion —and a wealth of made-from-scratch family and personal recipes— to Fiene's Bakery, a full-service bakery set to open in Naperville later this spring.
Fiene told Patch she has always loved crafting pastries and other baked goods and started to "find herself" by spending time at home baking. This inspired her to get a degree in culinary and pastry arts.
Later, she teamed up with her parents, Linda and Frank Fiene to bring the idea of Fiene's Bakery to life. For Meghan, who grew up in Naperville and swam competitively for Naperville North High School, the city she loves was an obvious choice of where to set up shop.

"[Naperville] is a big part of my heart," Fiene told Patch, adding that she felt the city could benefit from a "full-scale, scratch-made bakery."
When Fiene says "full-scale," she really means it. "We are going to have everything from donuts to wedding cakes and everything in between," she said.

A sampling of the goodies at Fiene's bakery includes Danishes, cupcakes, cookies, muffins, seasonal tarts and Fiene's favorite: her cinnamon rolls. Fiene said she worked on crafting the cinnamon roll recipe nearly half a dozen times to perfect it. The end result, she says, is "gooey and amazing."
Other recipes have been passed down for generations in the Fiene family. The chocolate cake, for instance, is Fiene's grandmother's recipe from 1951. "I’ve never had better chocolate cake," she said.
Fiene's Bakery will be located at 1603 N. Aurora Rd. in Naperville, next to Up North Ale House and will offer treats for takeout, along with a coffee service. "We plan on serving great coffee with our great pastries," Fiene said.
She said the bakery aims to open by late May or early June and will offer positions for bakers, cake decorators, customer service representatives and other careers.
In the meantime, Fiene can hardly contain her excitement.
“We’re just really excited," she told Patch, adding, "A scratch-made bakery is hard to come by."
Fiene said, “I think we’re going to have really, really awesome baked goods, and we’re really excited for people to try them."
