Harry's Cafe To Close After 42 Years In Naperville
"We have given this our best attempt to continue but realize any chance of return to normal is gone," the owners wrote in a Facebook post.
NAPERVILLE, IL — After 42 years, Harry's Café has announced that it will serve up its last cup of coffee to Naperville Metra riders Friday. The ocoffee truck's owners made the announcement via Facebook Tuesday evening.
In the post, Harry's owners thanked customers, friends, family and even those who just waved as they walked by the truck. They wrote, "This ongoing journey we are all on has opened our eyes to the hearts people still have to share kindness in whatever way they can. This has been especially felt by us. To those who have just come by to have coffee with us for a few minutes and to those who have been exceptionally generous to our GoFundMe page, we cannot begin to properly thank you. We have been truly blessed!!"
The mobile coffee truck's owners started a GoFundMe page in early May after Metra ridership fell due to the new coronavirus crisis. The company raised just over $4,100 of its $25,000 goal.

Harry's Café's owners wrote in the GoFundMe that they had applied for government aid, but were not sure "how long we can wait or if we qualify."
In Tuesday's Facebook post, they again cited the lack of commuters as the reason for their closure after 42 years. They wrote, "As these uncertain times continue, it is apparent commuters are not returning any time soon. We have given this our best attempt to continue but realize any chance of return to normal is gone. It has truly been a pleasure and an honor to serve each and every person that has come to our truck."
