DuPage County Judge Paul M. Fullerton declined to decide whether the question of annexation into Naperville should be put on the April 4 ballot in that city, Lisle, Warrenville, and Woodridge, according to the Daily Herald.

Instead, he gave the petitioners until February 2 to respond to the objections filed by the mayors, according to Naperville Communications Manager Linda LaCloche. In an email LaCloche said the judge will reconsider the matter on February 8. That date is nearly two weeks after the time when the ballot questions were scheduled to be finalized so ballots could be printed.

The mayors of all four towns have opposed the idea, and the leaders of the three smaller towns filed objections in court.

The unknown person or group who filed the petitions failed to supply the minimum number of signatures for Warrenville and Woodridge. According to Mayor Broda, several of the signatures for Lisle appeared to be invalid.

Naperville's Mayor Steve Chirico previously called the attempt to put annexation on the ballot a "political stunt."
