Fatality Confirmed In Woodrige Tornado: Pritzker
Sunday's EF-3 tornado that hit Woodridge and Naperville claimed the life of an unborn child and destroyed nearly 50 homes.

ILLINOIS — Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's Office confirmed one fatality from the deadly EF-3 tornado that ripped through Naperville and Woodridge Sunday. The tornado claimed the life of an unborn baby boy, according to a suburban family, and hospitalized 11 people.
It also damaged more than 631 homes, leveling one in Naperville and destroying 48 others, according to recent updates.

"The severe weather damaged more than 230 homes and caused at least 11 injuries and one fatality," Pritzker's office said in a news release Friday.

Cleanup and debris collection was still underway Thursday as homeowners began the difficult process of sorting through their remaining belongings and repairing the damage. With damage assessment close to finished, here's a look at the impact of the tornado in Naperville and Woodridge as of early Thursday:

The tornado also damaged structures in Darien.

- 2017: EF-3 tornado swept from Naplate to Ottawa
- 2015: EF-3 tornado hit Coal City
- 1991: EF-3 tornado swept from Romeoville to Lemont
- 1990: EF-5 swept through Crest Hill, Joliet, Plainfield and Oswego
- 1976: EF-4 tornado swept from Lemont to Burr Ridge
An EF-0 tornado hit Plainfield and Romeoville Sunday. That tornado traveled for more than three miles and damaged at least two homes.
