Impact of Executive Orders On Muslims: Rep. Foster Planning Community Discussion in Naperville
An Army veteran and a former interpreter for the military will speak at the event

Congressman Bill Foster will be hosting a discussion next week about the president's executive orders and their impact on the Muslim community, according to a press release. Foster's district includes Aurora, Bolingbrook, Joliet, Montgomery, and part of Naperville.

The discussion will be held on Monday, Feb. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at the Islamic Center of Naperville, 2844 W. Ogden Ave. Besides Foster, featured speakers will include the following:

- Shoaib Khadri, President, Islamic Center of Naperville
- Aadil Farid, Former president, Islamic Center of Naperville
- Hemi, Interpreter, recipient of special immigrant visa
- Adam Malaty-Uhr, U.S. Army veteran aided by interpreter
- Noura Al-Masri, ICN member, Operations Manager at the Syrian Forum
- Mary Helen Reyna, AILA registered immigration attorney
Community members will share their experiences of how the recent executive orders have impacted their lives.
"Since 1975, zero people have been killed by terrorist attacks on American soil by immigrants from the seven countries affected by Trump’s Executive Order, showing just how misplaced the priorities of the Trump Administration are," Foster said in a statement on Jan. 31. "History has not looked kindly on us when we’ve prevented people fleeing violence from seeking refuge in this country."

Foster is a Democrat who represented the Illinois 14th Congressional District from 2008 to 2011, and he has represented the 11th District since 2013. According to his biography, he is a former Fermilab scientist, and the only physicist in Congress.
