Library Foot Fondler Gets Six Years In Prison

The Aurora man pleaded guilty to touching women's feet at libraries in Naperville and Warrenville

On Monday, Omar Carlton was sentenced to six years in prison for touching women’s feet at libraries, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. He has been banned from nine libraries over a 27-year period for allegedly touching women inappropriately, according to the Daily Herald. Carlton, a 45-year-old from Aurora, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated battery in a public place for touching the feet of woman at the Warrenville Public Library and a similar incident at the North Central College Library in Naperville. In the Warrenville incident, he touched the woman's bare foot with his own bare foot, according to the Naperville Sun. At a sentencing hearing, Carlton admitted to having a foot fetish and a drinking problem. He claimed that his fetish was intensified by alcohol use. "I do need help on more than one level," Carlton told the judge, according to the Sun.His lawyer sought counseling instead of prison time for Carlton. DuPage County Judge Daniel Guerin decided that Carlton should go to prison instead.

“Any unwanted touching is a criminal offense, period,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. “When out in public, people expect and are entitled to go about their business, free from unwanted touching or advances from others. If someone crosses that line, there will be consequences, as Mr. Carlton learned today." Carlton must serve half of his six-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
