Man, 77, Woman, 71, Dead After Pedestrian Crash In Naperville

Police say the pedestrians were in a crosswalk when they were fatally hit by a Toyota Tundra.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A 77-year-old man a 71-year-old woman, both of Naperville, died after they were hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk Wednesday, police say. The pedestrian-vehicle crash happened just after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Wehrli Road and Hobson.

According to police, a 64-year-old Naperville woman was driving a Toyota Tundra north on Wehrli Road and turned left onto Hobson, hitting the pedestrians in the crosswalk. Both pedestrians were rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and the man was pronounced dead shortly after, police say. The woman died early Thursday, according to police.

Traffic was closed at Hobson and Wehrli until just after 8:15 p.m. as members of the Naperville Traffic Unit worked to reconstruct the crash. Police say the crash is still under investigation.
