Man Fatally Hit By Car While Changing Tire On Naper Boulevard

Police say a 28-year-old man died after being struck by a car Friday afternoon.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A 28-year-old Naperville man was fatally hit by a car while he was changing a flat tire on his car on Naper Boulevard Friday afternoon.

Police say the man, whose identity has not been released, was changing his tire south of Plank Road just before 3:30 p.m., when he was struck by a 2008 silver Volkswagen Rabbit driven by a 23-year-old Naperville man who stayed at the scene. The 28-year-old was rushed to Edward Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after.

Naper Boulevard was closed between Plank Road and Chicago Avenue until 7:16 p.m. as police worked to reconstruct the crash. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police say.

Naperville Police Department Deputy Chief told Patch no charges have been filed at press time, as they are pending a followup investigation.
