Update: Oswego Man Fatally Shot at Naperville Middle School

All children were reported safe at the school.

On Friday night just before 7:30 p.m., Naperville police responded to a report of an unresponsive man in a car in the parking lot of Scullen Middle School in Naperville, according to a police press release.

Officers found an unresponsive subject in a vehicle with the windows broken out. The victim, a 37-year-old man from Oswego, was transported to Edward Hospital where he was pronounced dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police say that the incident did not involve the school. There were two non-district organizations and an after-school club that were in the school at the time of the shooting.

Authorities say the investigation is on-going and does not appear to be a random act.

ABC 7 reported that some of the children at the school attending Polish classes. They also said police were not allowing parents to pick up their children immediately after the shooting. Police brought in large lights to illuminate the crime scene.
