Mom Says It Best: Think For Yourself Without Following Others

NAPERVILLE, IL – Diane Bates’ mother always wanted her daughter to set herself apart as a woman who could always think for herself.

But the words of wisdom passed down from one generation to another went beyond that, the Naperville resident said.

Her mother’s advice was simple:

“Think for yourself, just don’t go along with others,” Bates wrote of the knowledge that her mother provided her.

Naperville resident Soudabeh Vakili’s mother also wanted her daughter to consider other people beyond herself.

Her advice was a little more traditional:

“Treat others as how you want to be treated.”
