NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville resident was treated for injuries after trying to put out a kitchen fire Sunday. A neighbor dialed 9-1-1 after seeing the resident fleeing a nearby house on the 1900 block of Sprucewood Ct. Three engines, two ladder trucks, two ambulances and two dozen rescuers responded to the call.

They arrived to a smoke-filled, two-story home just after 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The fire was put out within five minutes. The resident was treated by medics and transported for injuries sustained while attempting to put out the fire, according to the Naperville Fire Department.

The village's Engineering and Development Department declared the home uninhabitable due to smoke and fire damage.
