Naperville Closes Downtown Roads To Accommodate Protesters

NAPERVILLE, IL — Roads were reopened as of 6:30 p.m. after traffic in downtown Naperville was being rerouted Thursday evening to accommodate protesters. Drivers were encouraged to avoid the area or seek alternate routes, Naperville officials said in an alert.

Jackson Avenue was closed between Mill and Webster Streets, effective until approximately 6:30 p.m. As of 5:30 p.m., Ellsworth Street was closed eastbound to Mill Street and Aurora Avenue was closed northbound and also southbound to School Street.

In the alert, officials said the traffic changes were made "for the safety of protesters gathered there."
