Naperville Cops Dole Out Over 100 Tickets During April Crackdown
Most of the citations were due to drivers using phones without hands-free capabilities enabled, police say.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police issued tickets to more than 100 drivers during an April crackdown against distracted driving.
Of these citations, 90 were issued to drivers who violated Illinois law that required cellphone use to be hands-free while you're driving. Police gave out 12 tickets for seatbelt violations, along with 36 citations for other violations that included illegal transportation of cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs.
“We strongly enforce distracted driving laws for one reason – to save lives,” Sergeant Rick Krakow said in a news release.
