Naperville Cops Urge Use Of Police Office For Internet Sales
Police are encouraging residents to take advantage of internet safe sale zones at the police department lobby and parking lot.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police are encouraging residents to take advantage of its safe internet sale zones as the holiday season approaches. The exchange zones allow residents to conduct internet sales and purchases in a monitored and safe area in the Naperville Police Department's lobby or parking lot.
Residents can conduct internet sales and purchases in the police department's lobby from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, with the exclusion of holidays.
The police department's parking lot features two spaces that are designated for internet transactions. The spaces are well-lit and are monitored by cameras 24 hours a day, police officials said in an online update.

In addition to providing a safer area for internet transactions, Naperville police recommend taking the following steps to improve safety when buying or selling online:
- Be aware of scams
- Arrange a meeting in a public place; avoid meeting at someone's home
- Watch out for forged checks and counterfeit cash
- Inspect items you are buying to make sure they are not broken or fake
- Save contact information and online listings in case you need to report a problem
- Report issues to social media sites and illegal activity to police
- Don't carry too much cash
