Naperville Girl Becomes Youngest to Climb to Highest Point in 48 States

She hopes to climb Mount Denali in Alaska.

NAPERVILLE, IL — It took Naperville girl Lucy Westlake less than 13 years to accomplish what another girl had done in 17.

Westlake has become the youngest girl to climb to the highest point of the lower 48 states, but she also managed to get Hawaii in there, too, according to a report from the Daily Herald.

She accomplished her goal on Kings Peak in Utah with her father, Rodney.

"It's so fun to be able to see the country like that," Lucy told the paper. "Being the highest thing in the state is cool."

With only one more state to go, Lucy is hoping to climb Alaska’s Mount Denali (aka Mount McKinley), which stands 20,308 feet tall and takes 16 to 24 days to climb, according to the article.
