NAPERVILLE, IL — Starbucks certainly isn’t a new concept to Naperville, having been part of the village’s business landscape for nearly 30 years.

But as of last week, Naperville is one of four locations in the world to house a Starbucks Reserve store, which offers a blend of unique coffee concoctions, cocktails and a line of freshly baked food items that makes the new location even more unique.

The Starbucks Reserve store, located at 203 S. Main St., opened for business last week after closing for renovations in April, a Starbucks spokesperson wrote in an email on Tuesday. The food and beverage menu is unique to this brand of Starbucks store locations, of which Naperville is the third U.S. location (New York and Seattle) while there is one international Reserve store located in Shanghai, China.

The Reserve store locations are not to be confused with Starbucks Reserve Roasteries, of which there are six in the world, including one located on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. The Reserve stores may offer many of the same menu of high-end drinks as the Roasteries, but the coffee is not roasted on-site, the spokesman wrote.

The stores do offer several brewing and mixology methods for drinks and serve fresh, artisanal baked items from Princi. The company spokesman said that what makes the Reserve stores unique from other locations is that baristas "keep the theater of coffee craft at the forefront of the experience."

Among the food items offered at the Naperville location are he menu includes a variety of fresh cornetti, sandwiches, pizza, salad, meat and cheese boards, and dessert – all of which is inspired by Italian baker Rocco Princi, the company said.

  • Barrel-aged coffee beverages that are non-alcoholic beverages crafted with coffee beans aged in whiskey barrels, these beverages include Whiskey Barrel-aged cold brew, Irish Con Crema and Cold Brew trio flight
  • Coffee flights, such as one flight that features three Starbucks Reserve coffees from different origins, and one flight that includes two cups of the same Starbucks Reserve coffee–one prepared on the Clover X brewer and the other on a pour-over.
  • Coffee + Ice Cream beverages, such as the Classic Affogato, the Cold Brew Malt, and the Cold Brew Float
  • Signature Cocktails such as the seasonal Pineapple Rum Float, or the a Espresso Martini or the Whiskey Cloud which is Starbucks’ take on an Irish coffee.

The Naperville Reserve store is open 6 a.m. daily and closes at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
