Naperville Lawyer Announces City Council Bid
Kevin Coyne, who also ran in 2013, says he'll focus on economic development and battling the area's heroin problem if elected.

Lawyer Kevin Coyne told the Chicago Tribune he will run for one of the eight open Naperville City Council seats in April’s election.

If elected, Coyne said his focus would be on economic development and fighting heroin use in the city, the Tribune reported. He said his experience in city government and business have made him ready for the role, the report added.
Coyne, 38, has been a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission since 2010. He also ran for council and lost in 2013.

All eight council seats will be up for election April 7, as well as the mayor’s office. The four candidates with the highest vote totals will serve four-year terms, and the remaining four candidates will serve two-year terms, the Tribune reported.
