Naperville Man Died In Cabo The Same Way Twins Did: A Rogue Wave

Another unexpected wave pulled in Naperville man five days before twins were killed in a similar manner.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Two sisters, one who lived in Naperville, died Sunday when they were swept into sea while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Five days earlier, a Naperville man, Steven Urycki, was killed the same way when he was surf fishing, according to the Naperville Sun. He was on a separate vacation celebrating his 65th birthday and his 35th wedding anniversary. The Sun reports his brother-in-law tried to save him from drowning, but, eventually, he was pulled in by a strong undertow.

Sunday, a former Naperville woman and her twin sister died after they were reportedly caught by a rogue wave while vacationing in Cabo. An obituary for Beverly Ann (Sova) Skripsky, 67, said the wave carried the sisters out to sea when they were walking on the beach. Urycki is survived by his wife, Ann, children, Stephanie and James, three grandchildren, Harper Urycki and Caroline and Thomas Bennett, according to an obituary from the Daily-Herald. Donations in his memory can be made to the Naperville Park District Remembrance Program, care of Nancy Thompson, 320 W. Jackson Ave. in Naperville so that a tree can be planted in a nearby park in his memory.
