Approximately 100 Special Olympics Illinois athletes will compete in a series of golf skill events at Springbrook Golf Course, located at 2220 W. 83rd Street in Naperville, on Wednesday, July 21 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. First place winners will have the opportunity to advance to the State Tournament later this fall.

“Special Olympics Illinois is grateful to community partners like the Naperville Park District who champion the message of inclusion,” says Chris Winston, Chief Marketing Officer, Special Olympics Illinois. “Our athletes are thrilled to have the opportunity to compete at Springbrook Golf Course’s beautiful facility as they go for gold.”

“We welcome all of the Special Olympics athletes to Springbrook Golf Course for this event and wish them a great day of competition,” says Director of Golf Kevin Carlson.

Other golfers at Springbrook Golf Course need to be aware that the driving range and practice greens will be closed for the event from 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21. However, the course will be open for regular play. Please note that the Glen Ekey Driving range and practice area at Naperbrook Golf Course will be available during the event as an alternative location. Naperbrook Golf Course is located at 22204 W. Hassert Boulevard in Plainfield.

The skill events in the competition include iron and wood shots, short and long putts, chipping, pitching and bunker shots. There will be an awards ceremony at the practice facility after the competition.
