Naperville PD Click It Or Ticket Campaign Yields 46 Citations

The tickets came over the Memorial Day weekend when officers issued citations for speeding, seat belt violations and made four arrests.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A recent seatbelt and speed limit enforcement campaign run by the Naperville Police Department over the Memorial Day weekend yielded 46 citations being issued by officers, the department announced on Thursday.

Among the citations issued by the department during the weekend enforcement period, 15 tickets were for speeding and 14 were for motorists not wearing seatbelts. Officers assigned to the enforcement detail also made two drug arrests, one felony arrest and one arrest for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the department said in a news release.

Although Illinois’ seatbelt compliance rate for 2020 was just under 95 percent, motorists not wearing seatbelts still accounted for half of the people killed in automobile accidents. The Click It Or Ticket campaign aims to change the behavior of millions of people across the country who don’t wear seatbelts, the release said.
