Naperville Police On The Lookout For Holiday Drunk Drivers
Now thru Jan. 2, Naperville police are going the extra mile to look for buzzed and drunk drivers.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Police have vowed to work around the clock this holiday season to search for alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. Now thru Jan. 2, enforcement is increased as a result of a partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois State Police.
"Now through New Year's Day, motorists will notice increased enforcement watching closely for anyone who is driving impaired," said Naperville Police Sgt. Derek Zook in a press release. "It is vital that we keep our travelers safe, not just at the holidays, but every day. That's why we'll arrest anyone who chooses to drive impaired by alcohol or drugs."
Officers also will be on the lookout for people who aren't buckled up. Last year, 37,461 people were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes in the United States. Of those killed, 28 percent died in crashes in which a driver had a blood-alcohol concentration over the limit of .08. Other consequences include jail time, losing a driver's license, getting charged higher insurance rates, attorney fees, court costs car towing and more.
