Naperville Students get Hands-on With Physics Exhibits

The exhibits were on loan from the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory

Students at Graham Elementary School in Naperville had a chance to experience physics first-hand with exhibits loaned by the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, according to the Naperville Sun.

The Graham Elementary School PTA organized the display for their Family Science Night on Wednesday, but had the exhibits available for students Monday through Wednesday.

The science displays included a gravity collider, a gravity accelerator, a ramps and curves machine, and a mini linear accelerator.

"What I love about it is that it's so open-ended. Some of these kids came up with ideas we never expected," Graham PTA President Emily Chen told the Naperville Sun. "They are taking turns and thinking collaboratively."

Fermilab provides the science exhibits free of charge and will deliver the equipment to local schools. The only requirement is having two trained facilitators at the school. The training costs $15 per person, and the next training session will be on Thursday, March 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lederman Science Center in Batavia.
