Naperville Students Heading to D.C. for Inauguration

The students from Naperville Central High School will spend a few days in the capital

Eight students from Naperville Central High School will be heading to the nation's capital for the presidential inauguration on Friday, January 20, according to the Naperville Sun.

"I know it will be something I will never forget and will be something to tell my grandkids someday that I got to see Donald Trump become president," said sophomore Madison Smith told the Naperville Sun. The group of students will travel with social studies teacher Donna Mohn, who took groups of students to the 2009 and 2013 inaugurations.

The students and Mohn obtained tickets for the inauguration through U.S. Congressman Bill Foster's office. Each congressional representative is issued 198 tickets for the inauguration.

The Naperville students will also visit monuments and historic sites on Wednesday and Thursday before the inauguration. They will return to Naperville on Saturday.

"If anything, I hope this experience will inspire them to find out what else is out there and actually vote," Mohn told the Naperville Sun. "I hope it just makes them active and aware."
